The Steps to Transformation

I’ve learned that transformation doesn’t have to take long, and it doesn’t have to be hard. I was shocked when I figured this out. For years I thought the only solution was following a special diet, buying expensive supplements, and getting lab work and treatments done. All of these things are important, but what’s crucial is knowing what to do before you do them.

In order for these solutions to have the kind of effects you’re looking for, you must have a body ready to receive them. In order to get into that state, we need to take a look at the energetic trauma that’s been stored in the body.

TRAUMA

Unprocessed trauma will cause the body to periodically flip in and out of fight or flight. And, when you’re in fight or flight, the body cannot heal and you won’t be able to create the life you want. It’s that simple.

We all have trauma, large and small, that’s stored in our brains and bodies. Before you assume that you’re trauma-free, let me explain what I consider the definition of “trauma” to be. In my practice, it’s anytime the fight or flight response gets turned on. Sometimes trauma can come in the form of a divorce or a loss, while other times it can be an accumulation of small defeats such as continually feeling like you don’t fit in. Trauma doesn’t have to be major for it to disrupt your system completely. When we fail to release our trauma it can keep us from our own success.

THE LENS

Incidents of trauma can create a “lens” through which we filter our lives. In science speak, the lens I’m referring to is called the “Reticular Activating System.” That’s a fancy way of saying that our brains connect like to like. We process so many stimuli in each moment that our brain simply searches for information to validate what it already knows or has stored. In many cases, it matches up things to our past traumas because they created such an impact.

LAW OF ATTRACTION

It’s important to remember that we’re a walking talking antennas, constantly broadcasting a signal to the outside world of our thoughts, feelings, and physical energy. And so,we need to be cognizant of what our energy is saying. If we don’t address the energy of the body, we will attract circumstances and things that will continue to validate our current, undesired, circumstances. It becomes very difficult to attract the things you want because you are not in alignment with the new thoughts, feelings or things you want to see in your life. This is why positive thinking, vision boards, and mock-ups are not enough to truly change your life. It’s not that the Law of Attraction doesn’t work, – it’s that the energy needs to match the thing that is desired in order to see results. You have to believe, on many levels, that you can have what you desire.

This is why I believe the NUMBER ONE way to get the life that you want, is to address the ENERGY that you are broadcasting moment-to-moment.

Have you ever found yourself in a position to take a risk – maybe a better job, exciting creative endeavor or a new relationship? While you might be confident at the start, once you begin thinking about it, an increasing amount of self-doubt enters. You begin thinking of all the ways things could go wrong. This is the energy of your stored trauma working through this new opportunity by putting it through an old, outdated lens.

THE GOOD NEWS:

Transformation doesn’t have to take a long time, and doesn’t have to be hard! You can change your Reticular Activating System and release the trauma beginning right now. Consider these two methods:

  1. MEDITATION

One way to make changes is by starting a meditation practice. This will allow you to systematically examine your psyche. You’ll gain practice noticing your own thoughts, ultimately giving you the ability to let go of the things that aren’t serving you. This takes dedication and patience. It’s incredibly valuable, but might be daunting if it’s new to you.

2. EFT, OR “TAPPING”

My favorite way to create the most change quickly is Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT.

EFT uses the fingertips to physically tap on specific meridian points on the body. Tapping on these places, while verbally guiding yourself to change negative emotions, restores your body’s energy and helps eliminate past trauma.

In my private practice, I coach clients through this process. I bring an intuitive method to the practice which allows me to help clients see beliefs and stored thoughts from the past they might not otherwise be able to access. I love my private practice, but over the last few years I’ve found that one-on-one sessions can only do so much for the world at large. I wanted to do something bigger and further reaching, so I developed a group coaching program that's available on my site.
